Flat Panel TV: Tips
Rated:
One look at your flat panel TV and it strikes you immediately – this sleek, thin thing is fragile! And when you remember how much of your wallet went poof when you bought the television, you confirm to yourself that you really, really need to take care of this baby. Question is, how exactly? Here are some tips that apply to all flat panel TVs, LCD, plasma, and others:
* The easiest one – take care when handling or transporting your flat panel display. Don’t go poking its screen or jolting it too much. Your TV is not a rugged appliance.
* Read the instructions manual for your flat panel TV carefully. Each display from different manufacturers can differ in specifications, so reading up on those papers will be worth it.
* Place your flat panel TV in an ideal place: an area away from lots of dust, fingerprints, moisture, heat, and accidents. Dirt is one great adversary of all flat panel displays.
* Mounting a flat panel TV on a wall or ceiling? Ask for the help of a second person. In this case, four hands are better than two.
Here are several tips for your LCD displays (can also apply to laptops):
* Don’t directly spray cleaning liquid (whatever the solution) onto the LCD screen. Just pour/apply the liquid onto the cleaning cloth.
* Speaking about the cleaning cloth, just use a soft piece of cotton cloth dampened with the cleaning liquid. Don’t use paper towels, as these might scratch your LCD screen!
* When buying commercial cleaning cloth and solutions for LCDs, it’s imperative to note that the product specifically says “for LCD screens” (or “for laptop screens”). It’s better to be safe and picky than sorry.
